Life Coach vs Therapy

The biggest difference is Life Coaching has a set timeframe for success. Often you will pay for a 10-week package. while therapy tends to go on forever.

People using Life Coaching are in a good mental state. Life Coaching dwells on the positive. Coaching identifies roadblocks, things in the way, of what you want. Therapy, for me at least, identified problems I never knew I had. Most therapy explores children, looking for roadblocks in your early years.

Life Coaching was much more effective than therapy for me. I paid $1500 up front for 10 weekly sessions. After 4 weeks I got the job I wanted and was on my way to bigger success.

After receiving Life Coaching, I studied Life Coaching. My conclusion is there is a better and less expensive way for some of us to get the benefits of Life Coaching.

Benefits of my way

  1. Less money

2. Use your free time, not limited to a coach’s schedule

3. Don’t have to wait a week to get a question answered, work at your pace, quicker or slower.

4. Improve yourself in private, no one needs to know except yourself.

5. Learn/know the right path when approaching forks in your life, this is my favorite. No need for change now. Be one step ahead by knowing your dreams and how to achieve them. But not required to do anything now, just be prepared when the opportunity presents itself.

6. My approach does not work on goals. Goals create stress, I hate missing goals, so I don’t use them. You do not need to either. Make small changes in your life. Replaced bad habits with better habits. Enjoy the Journey is the only goal.

After completing the 3 parts of the Do It Yourself Life Coach Package

We want you to understand my DVR process. The key point is to take time to vision yourself in your new ideal life. Find others already living that life and talk to them. People love sharing their life if they are enjoying it. We all enjoy sharing the happy times in our lifes. If their life is not so great they may be happy to share its short comings. In any case knowledge is key. If you aren’t sure how to find these people living your desired life start with a Google search. There is a lot to be found on YouTube but DO NOT limit yourself to just one avenue. I was a Score.ORG volunteer and their website is priceless if you are starting a business or any type of organization. I recommend that we all read or listen to a book called Will It Fly by Pat Flynn. It will walk you through the Visionary Step. This step and this book will save you from many mistakes and road blocks.

The book has 5 Stars, here is the link. I get no commision here. Please feel free to comment below.

This Happiness Coach provides a easy way to help you succeed. Try my DVR process

Coach clients through my 3-step process:

  1. Dreamer.      The dreamer step defines your dreams/goals.
  2. Visionary.     The visionary step has you envision your dreams and create an action plan.
  3. Reality.         The reality step involves the coach helping you stay on track to make your dreams a reality.

Let me explain in detail how this all works.  2 minutes of your time can change your life and those around you for the better.

We all have dreams, but often never follow them.   Maybe they are unparticular, or just impossible in the eyes of those around you.   My family and friends thought I was crazy when I talked about my dreams.  But I am now living them.   Maybe my dream was easier than some.   I dreamed of being happy and helping others be happy.  Well, here I am.  I did not dream of being famous or rich like a movie star.  A lot of rich and famous people are NOT happy.   I did use money and personal connection to achieve my happiness, but not a lot of either.   What I used most was the calmness that comes from within.  The hardest part was staying focused.   I am not saying you have to be totally focused.  I do many different things, often on some tangent in life.  But that’s my style, I was in no rush and always wanted to Enjoy the Journey.   Exploring and learning was the fun part.  Not achieving something, but working towards achieving something.  But having no plan is a waste of time.   Honestly, I got a very late start.  I was 50 years old before I came up with a Life Plan.   I should really call it a mission.  Just like a successful business must have a mission statement, individuals need one too.   You don’t even have to share your mission, because sometimes those around you are crazy.   Having a plan or at least a mission gives one purpose.  Purpose makes us happy.  Or at least less confused.   This plan/mission does not mean immediate change.  Relaxation is part of my happiness.  Work smart, not hard.   But when the road in front of has a fork, you know confidently which way to go.   So this doesn’t require more effort, it saves effort.   A little planning goes a long way.    I help people live smart, not work harder.   Having a purpose, even if it is a hidden purpose, makes life more enjoyable.   You don’t feel like you are wasting energy going nowhere.   Like I said I figured this out at 50 years old and am actually implementing it in my 60s.   It often takes years to formulate your mission,  I never pass up opportunities to enjoy life,  so I have taken longer than some.

So there are several ways of achieving this happiness plan.  I have a few in y tool case.  Different personalities work well with different approaches.   The first step is to get rid of goals.  Because goals mean failing sometimes and usually reaching a goal is not always satisfying.  What is satisfying is enjoying this process that gets you closer to a goal.  Even if you don’t make the goal, you have been enjoying yourself.  Often goals change because we learn new things along the journey.  Learning new things is one of my biggest goals in life.   It is an easy one for me.   Another trait we need is adaptability.   The ability to enjoy change and the unknown.   Learning again makes this easier and more fun.  Last, when we are ready to share our dreams and make them a reality we have enough info to convince those around us.  You will be surprised to see people happy for you when you have the confidence of enjoying the journey.  They often want to join you.  Then you become rich and famous in your own circle of trusted friends and family.   You really don’t need the world to know your success, most likely insecure people will come after you in a bad way and the great people are too busy with their mission to care.   Well, the icing on the cake is people with the same mission will help you which usually creates the greatest joy.

Disclaimer: This does not work for people who feel entitled or a victim. You need to let go of any hatred. Mostly positive thoughts are required, don’t fight the negative thoughts but turn the around. The cup half empty is also half full.

The ABCs … Learn how to be more accountable to your mission/plans but teaming up with others in the Accountably Buddy Club. Find others with common plans and support each other in the mission.

Bicycling for everyone, no stamina needed.

Would you love to join friends on a bike or just get out there alone,  but lack the stamina.  Here is the perfect solution.  An electric bike,  they come in many shapes and sizes.  After months of researching, I purchased this bike.  It looks like a standard hybrid bike.  I like front and rear shocks for a softer ride.

Kayaking is the safest sport I do.

I hike and bicycle ride along with ping pong, volleyball, roller blading, dancing, etc.  but when I mention kayaking most people respond with “isn’t that dangerous”.  First hand I can say it is the safest sport I do.  Again the media will cover a kayak drowning.  These are due to lack of planning,  like riding your bicycle on the highway.  After over 10 years of doing all these sports only kayaking has resulted in no injuries.   Well some may experience stiff shoulders, but that is the worse.
